Clara Bonnell

Clara Yates Bonnell is a Canadian-American composer, violinist, and vocalist from Mount Pleasant, Michigan. She is currently studying at the University of Michigan School of Music, where she continues to develop her passion for composition and performance. Inspired by the rich traditions of Newfoundland folk music, Clara enjoys writing original works that have been performed across the United States and Canada, with several of her theatrical scores receiving award nominations. Classically trained in both voice and violin, Clara also has extensive experience in fiddle, musical theatre, and a variety of folk styles.

She enjoys helping students build strong technical foundations while fostering creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of music. When she's not teaching, composing, or performing, Clara enjoys frozen yogurt, playing tennis, going to the theatre, and sharing the occasional dad joke.
